Explore sights and places where the popular HBO series Game of Thrones was filmed. Join Sol Travel Croatia on the tour around the UNESCO protected Diocletian’s Palace in Split, Klis old fortress, picturesque Kaštel Gomilica and lovely village Žrnovnica where some of the most interesting and iconic scenes were filmed. Game of Thrones Tour – Split area

We will first explore Diocletian’s palace and its Podrumi (Basements) where Daenerys kept her dragons as well as a place where different scenes from Mereen in season 5 were filmed (Sons of Harpy killings, fight with Unsolid, Daario enters Mereen). Diocletians palace is an UNESCO World Heritage site and you will hear more about the powerful Roman emperor Diocletian and his legacy as well as the history of Split and recent GoT filming fun facts.

After Split we will go to the Klis Fortress, an important stronghold for Split with rich history and a breathtaking view.

Nowadays, Klis Fortress is used as Danaerys’s stronghold and when you see this place you will know why this was chosen as a perfect location for filming GoT for scenes of Mereen. We are introduced to Klis in season 3, when Danaerys goes to Mereen to have more scenes in season 4 and even more recently in season 5 (when Danaerys executed slave owners).

Then we will go to take a short stroll around Kaštel Gomilica where scenes from season 5 were filmed. Kaštel Gomilica represents the free city of Braavos and we can imagine Arya in search of Many- Faced God.

After lovely Kaštela, we will go to small village Žrnovnica, a place where you can see amazing mills and place where Missandei took a bath in Žrnovnica river. In this area you can see the quarry which represents the entrance to Mereen and famous duel between Daario and Meeren champion in season 4.

After exploring all the sights you can enjoy an optional traditional meal or even join a bread making workshop in the Game of Thrones ambient (surcharge).
